Bloomberg Asphalt Art Initiative

The City of Santa Barbara, in collaboration with the Office of Arts and Culture, is one of ten locations in North America awarded a $100,000 Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative Grant.

The art treatment is currently being installed at the State and Carrillo Street intersection in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. It aims to create a welcoming space, improve pedestrian safety, and celebrate the Santa Barbara Farmers Market. Lead artists Eddy Jimenez and Irene Ramirez facilitated a series of community workshops to develop the design.
