the river's journey: one year, six artists, ninety-two miles

The River’s Journey Project was developed by the Rose Compass, a small collective of Santa Barbara artists including which include Nicole Strasburg, Holli Harmon, Connie Connally, Pamela Zwehl-Burke, Libby Smith, and Nina Warner, and serves to connect our community to their limited and valuable water resource. They are using art to inform the public about our local Santa Ynez River watershed, how it functions and our individual responsibility to protect its viability through art and education.

The Santa Barbara Printmakers (SBP) is a group of artists dedicated to creating and exhibiting original prints made using hand and press printing techniques such as etching, drypoint, monoprint, woodblock, collagraph, linocut, clay, lithography, screen printing, transfer, and photopolymer plates. This exhibition will be juried by Sam Carr-Prindle and includes original prints from artists around California and beyond.

They were asked to pick on of their images and bring it to life in color, with the media of their choice - no rules! Coloring Santa Barbara features works by artists including: Brian Cearnal, Anthony Grumbine, Britt Jewett, Henry Lenny, William Mahan, Tom Meaney, Courtney Jane Miller, Ryan J. Mills, Jaime B. Palencia III, Christine Pierron, Jeff Shelton, and Fred Sweeney.
